We know of at least one retailer will be getting an Xbox Series X restock this week, and this one gamers won’t have to rush to try their luck.

As confirmed earlier this month, Box.co.uk will be offering additional Xbox Series X stock consoles to buy.

One last stock update is scheduled before the end of January, meaning it could happen in the coming days.

The only downside is that we don’t know exactly when it will happen, although the timing isn’t quite as important.

Box.co.uk runs a ballot system for each console, meaning you need to head over to the site and sign up for the ballot.

This will mean accepting whatever terms and conditions the site operates under and doesn’t guarantee anyone a console.

The official announcement from Box reads: “We will be getting two waves of stock towards the end of January for the Xbox Series X and S consoles.

“Those who have entered will be communicated 24hrs before the draw is made.

“Please keep an eye on our social media, where we will announce when the emails are sent out to lucky winners.”

Other retailers are also expected to be getting more stock from Microsoft, with GAME and Currys also seeing updates in January.

While both Microsoft consoles will be restocking at Box this month, there are big differences between the two consoles.

Not only is the Series S console cheaper but it comes with some other notable drawbacks, including:

When buying a new console, Xbox gamers should know that there is a big difference between the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S consoles.

“The primary difference between Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S is in resolution.

“Through talking to our customers, we found that many of our fans prioritize framerate over resolution, so we wanted to build a console that didn’t require a 4K TV.

“Xbox Series S delivers approximately 3x the GPU performance of Xbox One and was designed to play games at 1440p at 60 frames per second, with support for up to 120fps.”

One big change announced by Microsoft that might have stopped a few gamers from buying an Xbox Series X this week has seen a big update.

Having announced a price hike for Xbox Live Gold, the tech giant has now reversed its plans and even made it possible to play free games without a subscription.

A message from Microsoft confirms: “We messed up today and you were right to let us know. Connecting and playing with friends is a vital part of gaming, and we failed to meet the expectations of players who count on it every day. As a result, we have decided not to change Xbox Live Gold pricing.

“We’re turning this moment into an opportunity to bring Xbox Live more in line with how we see the player at the centre of their experience. For free-to-play games, you will no longer need an Xbox Live Gold membership to play those games on Xbox. We are working hard to deliver this change as soon as possible in the coming months.

“If you are an Xbox Live Gold member already, you stay at your current price for renewal. New and existing members can continue to enjoy Xbox Live Gold for the same prices they pay today. “In the US, $9.99 for 1-month, $24.99 for 3-months, $39.99 for 6-months and $59.99 for retail 12-months.”
