This week’s rumoured PS5 re-stock has allegedly been delayed by Sony.

Recent reports suggested a huge new shipment of PlayStation 5 consoles would be winging its way to UK retailers for January 7.

That’s according to the PS5 UK Stock – Instant Updates Twitter account, which claimed that most retailers were expecting to receive consoles by this date.

“A huge third shipment is being prepared to be sent to the UK soon, expected date 1st week Jan but can be delayed due to our port issues,” reads a recent tweet.

“So looks like its pretty much confirmed that most retailers are expecting 3rd shipment of stock by Jan 7th… however unsure how ports situation will affect this. But delay cant be more than a few days at best.”

With no PS5 UK re-stocks in sight, the account now claims that PlayStation 5 consoles will be available on January 14.

“So the stock hasn’t arrived to the UK yet due to further delays from Sony,” reads a follow-up post. “So won’t be ready for tomorrow. There’s no point of staying up tonight. Looks like drop will be on the 14th January.”

Whether or not the information turns out to be accurate remains to be seen, but without any official announcement by Sony, rumours are all we have to go on.

In the meantime, customers are encouraged to bookmark the Stock Informer website, and follow social media channels such as Digital Foundry Deals.

It’s also worth registering an interest in the PlayStation 5 on various retail sites.

Anybody who does manage to pick up a PS5 is in for a treat, because there’s lots to love about Sony’s gargantuan new console.

Not only do games look great and perform better, but the DualSense controller adds an interesting new dynamic to certain genres.

Indeed, the first thing you should do when firing up your new console is to check out Astro’s Playroom, which does a fantastic job of showcasing Sony’s DualSense game pad.

Interestingly, Sony’s DualSense controller is so popular that even Microsoft is keeping a close eye.

Indeed, if a recent Xbox customer survey is anything to go by, Microsoft may be thinking of pinching some of the DualSense controller’s best features.

One question asks users if there are any features from the PlayStation controller that they wish were available on the Xbox pad. The exact wording (via TechRadar) can be seen below.

“I am aware of features on PlayStation controllers that I wish were on the controller that came with this console.”
