There’s a chance that GAME UK will be restocking PS5 consoles earlier than expected, providing one final drop from the retailer in February.
Buying a PlayStation 5 remains a challenge and is a problem that is expected to last several months.
Summer 2021 might be the first time in the year when the likes of Sony and Microsoft will keep up with demand.
But until then, next-gen console hunters are going to struggle to buy from places like Currys, Argos and Game.
One glimmer of hope has been raised this week that might bring a surprise PS5 stock update to one of the UK’s leading video games retailers.
GAME UK is rumoured to be getting a PS5 stock update in the coming weeks, and it could be coming sooner than later.
Stock tracker account @UKPS5Notify on Twitter suggests that Game could offer one final PS5 restock during February.
It’s worth taking all reports with a pinch of salt when it comes to buying stuff online and this is no different.
But from what has been shared this weekend, Game UK could join Currys and BT in offering PS5 consoles to buy this week.
The latest news is based on the Game UK site changing its release date for its next PS5 stock to earlier in March.
This means that consoles could be offered in pre-order bundles this week so that the March 3 release date can be filled.
The message from PS5 Notify on Twitter explains: “GAME’s next #PlayStation5 release date has now changed to 08/03 indicating we could see their pre orders go live as early as next week!”
As ever, this doesn’t guarantee more PS5 stock for gamers this week but any news is worth tracking at this point to make sure fans don’t miss out.
And other reliable PS5 stock tracking account have suggested the opposite, revealing that Game UK won’t be offering more stock until March 2021.
The latest news from @PS5Instant reads: “Currys, Hughes and BT + EE are likely to drop the start of next week. GAME aren’t due in any shipment of PS5s this month. They could release a small number of cancelled or uncollected orders, this would be 100s at best.
“Scalping is becoming less profitable. PS5s price on eBay went average £680 to £620 (disc and dig) with these last drops. Most stores are receiving a new shipment of PS5s in the first week of March, there’s no reason to buy from scalpers right now.”
So with that in mind, this week’s PS5 restock could skip GAME, depending on what is being planned by the retailer.
Game UK hasn’t shared any news on its plans for March, and there hasn’t been a stock update shared by the company via social media for some time.
This means gamers have had to rely on other sources to make sure they have at least a chance at buying a next-gen console.
But until supply and production constraints ease on vital next-gen console parts, and profits for scalpers drop to nothing, gamers will continue to struggle to buy next-gen consoles in 2021.
