Having had a successful launch of its new next-gen console, Sony will be looking to get as many PS5 owners to sign up to PS Plus in December as possible.
One of the best ways to do that is to offer an exciting mix of free games for everyone to enjoy.
And this month’s lineup has gone one better by offering a brand new title for all PlayStation Plus subscribers to download.
Worms Rumble may not offer the classic timed experience, but it’s certainly got a lot to offer PS4 and PS5 console owners looking for something unique to play.
As confirmed by Team17: “Learning the layouts of each arena is a sure-fire way to give yourself a competitive edge. How does each zone connect with one another and how many routes in and out are there?
“It’s a great idea to always have an exit strategy! Keep your eyes peeled for elevators, ziplines and bounce pads around the arenas that provide quick routes in and out of combat or up to higher ground.
“Or dive into the various vents and buildings to out-flank your opposition or to just lay low and recover between fights.”
And with plenty of gamers diving into the new arena shooter, Sony has thrown in a free bonus for PS Plus owners to download.
By scrolling through the PS Plus Add-On section, you can track down a free outfit to deck your favourite Worm out in.
It might only provide a new hoodie for your team to wear, as well as an exclusive banner and weapon skin, but it’s still a nice touch for everyone playing the free PS Plus game this month.
And for those who are avoiding signing up to PlayStation Plus, there will soon be a chance to try out the service for free.
As confirmed by Sony in November, a limited free trial is being launched in December that will let PS4 and PS5 gamers play multiplayer for free.
Sony did advertise the free PS Plus trial with pictures of games like FIFA 21, GTA 5 and Black Ops: Cold War, although free access to these titles are not included.
Regardless, gamers will get the chance to play any of the multiplayer modes they have with their games for free on December 19.
A message from Sony explains: “Non-PlayStation Plus members who own PS4 or PS5 games with active online multiplayer modes or features will be able to try them out for a limited time next month.
“We’re hosting a free online multiplayer weekend that will run from midnight (local time) Saturday, December 19 until 11:59pm (local time) on Sunday, December 20.”
