Liam Gallagher will have the perfect weekend of football and rock ’n’ roll, thanks to accommodating festival organisers.
Originally, Isle Of Wight Festival bosses tried to book the star to close the weekend with a Sunday night performance slot – until it was pointed out that this would be after England play against Panama at 1pm earlier in the afternoon.
No Rock ’n’ Roll Star could be expected to do such a thing…
Our festival mole says: “Liam is a massive football fan so it was only right for him to be able to let his hair down and enjoy some booze during the match.
“Upon realising the potential clash, bosses scheduled Las Vegas rockers The Killers, who were set to headline another night, to play Sunday instead, and Liam is on Saturday.”
The source added that for Liam’s set, which sees him headline alongside Depeche Mode, bosses had organised 50 bottles of Dom Perignon to “get the party started”.
“It’s not a World Cup if you are not suitably refreshed,” my source quipped.
Last weekend, Liam, 45, performed in Belfast, and told one fan: “Mate I’m gonna murder the Guinness as soon as I’m off that stage tonight.”
It’s going to be a fun weekend…
The former Oasis star plays to a sold-out Finsbury Park crowd next Friday, too.
