The jilted ex-boyfriend of Love Island’s Ellie Brown accused her of being “fame hungry” after she brutally dumped him just days before entering the villa.

Recruitment worker Jay Mihcioglu, 29, said the 20-year-old said they were in bed together “just hours” before she left for the villa, ending their relationship in an instant.

He now reckons the blonde is chasing “fame over their relationship” though he did wish her well before she went on the show.

Jay told the MailOnline : “She came over to my apartment and we spent the night together. We were in bed together just hours before she left for Love Island.

“I was speechless when she told me she was going off the next day and I said, ‘Why the hell didn’t you tell me before?

“‘You’re giving up on us for the opportunity of fame. I can’t stop you going and I wish you luck but it’s such a shock. It’s madness.'”

He continued: “I couldn’t believe it, I had no idea.

“I was speechless and I’m gutted because I absolutely adore her, I’m gutted.

“She wants fame, she doesn’t want me.”

He also admitted that while it is “galling” to watch her antics in the villa, he has to tune in for his own closure.

Jay added: “I can’t not see but it’s galling to watch her kissing and flirting with other ellas.

“She was in a relationship with me last week and now I’m history.”

They met 16 months ago on a night out before splitting up just after Christmas, which Jay put down to their “nine-year age gap.”

The couple then rekindled their relationship in March but things quickly disintegrated after her shock announcement.

The businessman didn’t smell a rat when he noticed Ellie was going to the gym twice a day before she popped up in the villa, as she told him she was on a health kick for the summer.

He said: “El’s an extremely pretty girl and we just click. It was tough when we broke up in December but luckily we worked things out and got back together a few months ago.

“She suddenly started working out twice a day and was very figure conscious.

“She said she was on a health kick for the summer but she was clearly getting in shape for the show.

Jay added that the makers or the show are just playing a game for “a bit of fun” rather than trying to help real relationships.

Ellie has met her match with Dr Alex George, who she became close to almost immediately on entering the villa with fellow newcomer Zara McDermott.

The pair admitted their relationship wasn’t entirely natural as they were being closely watched by the other islanders, but the doctor still chose Ellie to couple up with at the surprise recoupling.
