Having surprised gamers with a spin-off multiplayer mode, developers Sucker Punch are expanding Ghost of Tsushima, even more, this week. It has been confirmed that in the coming hours, the new Legends Raid mode will be released, allowing PS4 gamers to take on a beefier challenge. For those who might not have experience yet, Ghost of Tsushima Legends is a co-op multiplayer experience inspired by regional mythology and offering locations and enemies inspired by Japanese folk tales.
There is a clear emphasis put on cooperative combat and action, and with four players, you’ll be able to take on wave-based Survival missions.
The Ghost of Tsushima Raids mode is a step up from those tougher co-op missions and comes with limited matchmaking options.
This will be a notable drawback for fans hoping to team up with random players online, especially when you consider that you need four players to take on the challenge.
A message from Sucker Punch explains: “Because the Raid requires excellent coordination and communication, matchmaking will be disabled, so be sure to gather a team ahead of time!
“Looking for players? We recommend coordinating via the Ghost of Tsushima Reddit and Discord communities.”
WHAT IS THE GHOST OF TSUSHIMA RAID RELEASE TIME?
Developers Sucker Punch has confirmed that the Ghost of Tsushima Legends Raid release time has been set for 3pm PDT, on Friday, October 30, 2020.
For gamers in the UK, this will mean things kicking off at around 10pm GMT and could require a small patch download.
The Raid requires a minimum Ki level of 100 and a team of four players. It’s split into three chapters, with unique cosmetics and top-level gear if you complete it.
An earlier message from Sucker Punch adds: “we’re excited to confirm that you’ll be able to play The Tale of Iyo beginning on Friday, October 30.
This is the culmination of the story in Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, bringing the fight directly to Iyo’s realm. This Raid is divided into three chapters and requires a full team of four Ghosts, as well as excellent coordination and communication.
“The Tale of Iyo will not support matchmaking, so you’ll need to arrange your team ahead of time and be ready to jump in together. You’ll want to have your gear at KI level 100 as an absolute minimum before you attempt to take on this challenge.
“To get Raid ready, we recommend finishing all Story missions, and replaying Story and Survival on higher difficulties to get higher level gear.”
Away from today’s Legends release and Sucker Punch has revealed their plans for a new lineup of weekly challenges.
Starting at 8:00AM Pacific Time every Friday, the development team will be adding new 2-player Story missions and 4-player Survival missions with specific weekly modifiers.
The teams with the highest scores will be featured on weekly leaderboards, one for the Story mission and one for the Survival mission.
According to the dev team, these missions are Nightmare Difficulty and intended to put you and your team to the test, but if you do manage to emerge victorious – completing them along with all bonus objectives – you’ll get max-level gear that will help you become Raid ready.
