The First Lady caused controversy by visiting detained children in a jacket that read: “I really don’t care. Do u?”
Eddie Vedder‘s wife hit back at Melania Trump by wearing her own statement-making jacket onstage at a Pearl Jam show.
The US First Lady caused controversy earlier this week (June 21) when she visited children who had been separated from their parents at the border of the United States and Mexico in a jacket that read: “I really don’t care. Do u?” A White House representative later said it was “just a jacket” with “no hidden message”, while Donald Trump claimed it was a response to the “fake news media.”
Jill Vedder wore her own jacket to Pearl Jam’s gig in Milan last night (June 22). Her husband invited her onstage at the show, telling the audience it was their wedding anniversary and they have first met in Milan. The back of Vedder’s jacket had been customised in what looked like white tape to read: “Yes we all care. Y don’t u?”
Eddie Vedder dedicated a song to Donald Trump at the band’s London show earlier this week (June 18). Before playing ‘Love Boat Captain’, the frontman said: “I would like him to hear it but he doesn’t listen to music or read books.
“Could someone tweet this to him or something? For mom’s and dad’s and children being separated at the border. That isn’t the country I remember.” Later, Vedder repeatedly shouted “Fuck you!”
Meanwhile, Pearl Jam were forced to cancel their second show at London’s The O2 on Tuesday after Vedder lost his voice. The band posted a statement to their official Twitter account stating a new date would be announced soon and “sending their biggest apologies out to everyone.”
