The second season of the hit series premieres in the UK tomorrow (June 24)

Donald Glover has said he’s not planning to make “seven seasons and a movie” of his hit TV show Atlanta.

The second season of the series, titled Atlanta: Robbin’ Season, is due to premiere tomorrow night (June 24) in the UK. It will be shown at 10pm on Fox.

In a new interview with the Guardian, Glover said he isn’t interested in dragging the show out until it becomes safe. Speaking about director Hiro Murai – who also directed Glover’s ‘This Is America’ video under his music alias Childish Gambino – he said: “I think we keep each other honest about what’s actually daring. I don’t like shows when they become risk-averse.

“I don’t think that’s the point – trying to self-preserve,” he continued. “I’m not here to make seven seasons and a movie. That would be really bad. Unless we get to seven seasons and I’m like: ‘This is actually perfect – somehow Atlanta became Game Of Thrones.’” He added that he isn’t making a TV show, but “an experience.”

Meanwhile, Lucasfilm was recently reported to be considering a Star Wars spin-off centred around Glover after his appearance in Solo: A Star Wars Story. The actor-musician played Lando Calrissian in the movie.

Glover is due to appear as Childish Gambino at next month’s Lovebox Festival in London. He will headline the Saturday of the event (July 14). Tickets are available to purchase here. He will be joined by the likes of N.E.R.D., Action Bronson, The Internet, Kali Uchis, Big Boi, and more.
