David Bowie had two children in his life, a son and a daughter. They were born fairly far apart and to different mothers, meaning their experiences of life were pretty dissimilar. David’s son is director Duncan Jones, but who is his daughter and who is her mother?
David’s second child, Alexandria ‘Lexi’ Jones, was born in New York City on August 15, 2000.
The Ziggy stardust singer was very protective of his daughter and ensured little was known about Lexi in the public sphere as a young child.
However, when she became a teenager and started running her own social media accounts, more and more has become known about her.
One of these tidbits is she and her mother, supermodel Iman, have tattoos dedicated to David, with hers commemorating her father’s life with a decorative crescent moon and the words ‘Daddy xx 1947-2016’.

Her mother’s tattoo is a dagger on her ankle with the word David, showing their devotion to their dearly departed father and husband.
Lexi is also an artist, using her Instagram to showcase some of her work and even sell some images, as well as graphic art on denim.
Iman has spoken out about her reluctance to let her daughter walk the same road as herself, speaking of how she was approached on Lexi’s behalf about modelling.
Speaking to W magazine in 2018, Iman said: “She says I am overprotective. But I told her, ‘This can all wait, it isn’t going anywhere.
“‘Have a life that is private while you can, because one day soon it is going to be public, so enjoy this.’
“Every agency, every designer, called me to say, ‘If she wants to, we’d love for her to model for us.’
“I said, ‘No, she doesn’t.’ I know why they wanted to her to model. It’s because she is David Bowie’s daughter.”
Iman is Lexi’s mother and was the wife of David from 1992 until his death.

The pair remained together and very private for most of their lives, while also remaining protective of their daughter’s privacy, but in an interview with Hello magazine to celebrate their daughter’s birth, David spoke more openly about their relationship.
Speaking in 2000 he said: “My attraction to her [Iman] was immediate and all-encompassing. I couldn’t sleep for the excitement of our first date.
“That she would be my wife, in my head, was a done deal. I’d never gone after anything in my life with such passion in all my life.
“I just knew she was the one.”
The pair holidayed together in Florence and, as Iman told Entertainment Weekly after Bowie’s death, his proposal was adorable.
She said after seeing a ring she loved in Florence: “He went back for it and found it.
“Somebody had bought [the ring], so he went and found it and bought it from them!
“It was sweet and of course I said yes.”
He proposed in Florence and, in 1992, they married in a private ceremony in Switzerland.
Over the weekend, which celebrates both Bowie’s birthday and life on the anniversary of his death, Iman has posted a great deal of tributes to her husband, including an image of him kissing her forehead.
The caption read: “Forehead kisses are kisses meant for the soul #EternalLove #EternalMemories #BowieForever”
David Bowie died on January 10, 2016, from liver cancer, after celebrating his 69th birthday two days before.
