Barring any super last minute delays, the Cyberpunk 2077 release date is finally here.

CD Projekt’s ambitious open-world game has a December 10 release date on PS4, Xbox One, PC and Google Stadia.

And the good news for UK fans is that there’s no waiting around to access the game, because Cyberpunk 2077 has a midnight GMT launch time.

To ensure you don’t miss a second of the action, digital pre-order customers can pre-load the game ahead of time.

The Cyberpunk 2077 pre-load is available now on PS4/PS5, Xbox One/Series X, and PC.

The game weighs in at around 60GB, although a big day-one patch is expected to launch alongside the game.

Express Online will post full day-one patch notes when CD Projekt makes the update available to download.

Judging by the early review scores (and more on those later), the game has quite a few bugs, so the day-one patch is worth downloading asap.

If you haven’t pre-ordered Cyberpunk 2077 and are looking for the best possible deal, then check out the prices below.

Sadly, while Cyberpunk 2077 will be playable on PS5 and Xbox Series X, the next-gen optimisation update won’t actually be available until next year.

The game will launch with some next-gen upgrades on December 10, but the full PS5 and Xbox Series X update will be released in 2021.

On the plus side, the PS4 to PS5 and Xbox One to Xbox Series X upgrade will be free to anybody with a copy of Cyberpunk 2077.

Likewise, CD Projekt has confirmed that save files can be transferred to the next-gen, meaning you can start playing now, before migrating across at a later date.

The closest you’ll get to next-gen performance and visuals on December 10 is with an NVIDIA GeForce Game Ready Driver, and by enabling DLSS.

The game features ray-traced shadows, reflections, diffuse illumination, global illumination, and ambient occlusion.

According to NVIDIA, enabling DLSS in Cyberpunk 2077 increases frame rates by up to 60% or more, depending on GPU and resolution.

If you’re still not convinced whether Cyberpunk 2077 is right for you, then it’s worth checking out some of the early reviews.

Cyberpunk 2077 has been met with high praise across the board, including perfect review scores from the likes of GamesRadar, God is a Geek and VG247.

IGN’s 9/10 review praises the “staggering amount of choice” and the “impressively flexible design” of the game.

“Cyberpunk 2077 kicks you into its beautiful and dazzlingly dense cityscape with few restrictions,” reads the IGN review.

“It offers a staggering amount of choice in how to build your character, approach quests, and confront enemies, and your decisions can have a tangible and natural-feeling impact on both the world around you and the stories of the people who inhabit it. Those stories can be emotional, funny, dark, exciting, and sometimes all of those things at once.”

GameInformer also awards the game 9/10, calling it dark and disturbing, but also rather fascinating.

“Cyberpunk 2077 is dark and disturbing at times (frighteningly so), but the majority of its content is fascinating, and loaded with depth through the various RPG systems and lore. I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Night City, and Johnny Silverhand is a great partner to see the sights with.”

Gamespot was less impressed, awarding the game 7/10 on PC. The reviewer criticises the bugs

“It’s hard to get into Cyberpunk 2077’s world in general. So much of it is superficial set dressing, and there’s so much happening all around you – ads going off at all times, gunfights breaking out in the streets, texts coming in about cars you’ll never buy – that a lot of the game feels superfluous.

“The side quests and the characters they showcase are the shining beacon through the neon-soaked bleakness of Night City, and they give you room to explore the best the core RPG mechanics have to offer.

“These are what carried me through an otherwise disappointing experience.”
