Marvel’s Avengers Endgame ended with old Steve Rogers handing Anthony Mackie’s Falcon his shield. Now Sam Wilson will take up the new mantle as Captain America, which it looks like he’s going to have to fight for in upcoming Disney+ show The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. But now with rumours of Chris Evans returning to the MCU, it is alleged he’ll be playing an alternate version of Captain America from another universe.
This is certainly within the realms of possibility considering that Marvel Phase 4 is exploring the multiverse and alternate incarnations of the same superheroes.
This Christmas Untitled Spider-Man 3 sees Sony Web Slingers Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield joining Tom Holland for some dimension-crossing craziness.
While one of the MCU’s 2022 movies is explicitly called Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Well, it’s reliable MCU scooper Daniel Richtman who is reporting that Evans will play an evil alternate version of Captain America who works for HYDRA and Doctor Strange 2 would be a perfect place for his debut.

The latter would certainly be quite the encounter since Cap last saw his arch-nemesis being transported by the Space Stone to the desolate planet in the 1940s.
Then in 2013, there was the Reality Stone, which Cap will somehow need to re-inject into Jane Foster on Asgard while dropping off Thor’s hammer.
Next, in 2012, the Time Stone needed to be returned to The Ancient One in New York City, plus the Mind Stone, which was previously in Loki’s Sceptre, needed to go back into the hands of S.H.I.E.L.D. – which was actually HYDRA in disguise.
While finally, Cap needed to take the Space Stone back to 1970 where it was housed in S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters at Camp Lehigh.
But it was here in 1970 that Steve and Tony Stark swiped some Pym particles for more time travel through the Quantum Realm.
For all we know Cap had all sorts of adventures through time and perhaps we’ll see some of these on Disney+ with Evans returning to the role.
Whatever the case, Marvel Phase 4 and 5 are looking incredibly exciting with tons of multiverse and time travel expected.
And if Doctor Strange dealing alternate realities wasn’t enough, time-travelling villain Kang the Conquerer is set to enter the MCU in 2022’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
