The release of Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War is going to be a massive test for the franchise in more ways than just launch day sales.
Not only is Activision trying to continue the success of COD Warzone, but they are also bringing a new campaign and multiplayer experience to consoles and Battle Net.
The good news is that we now know the launch date and Black Ops release time for PlayStation, Xbox and PC platforms.
It should also be noted that while Cold War is going to be a large download – over 90GB on all platforms – If you pre-ordered the game digitally, you can pre-load it to ensure it’s ready to go at launch.
CALL OF DUTY BLACK OPS: COLD WAR RELEASE TIME UPDATE
Activision has confirmed that Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War has a release date set for Friday, November 13, 2020.
It has also been confirmed that the Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War release time has been set for 9pm PDT, on Thursday.
For gamers in the UK, this will mean Cold War going live at around 5am GMT on November 13.
For next-gen console users, pre-loading will be available on their respective launch dates – November 10th for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, November 12th for PlayStation 5.
When it comes to the full download and install sizes for Cold War, console players can choose to uninstall specific game mode packs, such as for Campaign or Zombies, in order to reduce the game’s overall file size.
This content can be managed in-game through the “Account & Network” section of the Settings menu.

- PlayStation 4: 95GB
- PlayStation 5: 133GB
- Xbox One: 93GB
- Xbox Series X|S: 136GB
- PC: 35 GB (Multiplayer Only) / 82GB (Full Game) / 125GB (Full Game on Ultra Graphics).
PC players can also choose to install specific game mode packs, such as for Campaign and Zombies, in order to reduce the game’s overall file size. Also note the updated PC file size numbers.
Developers Treyarch has also provided some guidance on when the first Easter egg mission in Zombies mode will be going live, telling fans this week:
“We’re aiming to turn on the main Easter Egg quest (and several side quests) in #DieMaschine WORLDWIDE as early as 8:30 AM PT on Nov. 13th, so everyone can start the hunt together.
“You’ll be able to toggle several HUD visuals on and off in Settings, including zombie health bars, enemy names, hit marker visuals, crosshair visuals, floating damage numbers, friendly player names, and more.
“You’ll be able to unlock Legacy Prestige Icons from previous games – including icons from Zombies and even Blackout – once you unlock the Prestige Shop after you earn your first Prestige Key starting in Season One.”
Activision has not shared any news regarding a day one patch, meaning an extra update isn’t expected until later this week.
