When it was announced in 2020 that Billie Eilish would be taking on the next James Bond theme song, there were some raised eyebrows from fans of the franchise. This was mostly because Eilish has not been around too long, and usually the privilege of taking on the song is given to artists who have been around a lot longer than she had been at the time. Despite this, No Time To die is due to be a monumental addition to the series, as it is going to be the final outing for the first and only Bond of the 21st century, Daniel Craig, therefore making one of the most memorable James Bond songs around.
Thankfully, in April of 2020, Billie Eilish released the song to much critical praise.
The star quickly joined the ranks of Sam Smith, Adele, and Shirley Bassey as a legendary Bond singer.
Despite the rancid feedback she received from some fans, she has since explained how grateful she is to have been given the opportunity.
Eilish and her brother, Finneas – who is the other half of Billie’s act – recently spoke in a new interview about how “lucky” they are for getting the song, as the title was so good.

Eilish explained: “Finneas’ whole thing – that I agreed with – was that we have to have the title of the song be the title of the movie.
“And we have to say it, or it doesn’t hit as hard – it doesn’t do what it needs to do.”
Finneas went on to add: “We were lucky, because the title was No Time to Die, and that is a good lyric.
“I don’t fault Jack White and Alicia Keys for not writing a song called Quantum of Solace.”
The Bad Guy singer added: “I wasn’t mad about it because I understand.
“Why wouldn’t people have wants for the song that’s the theme to their favourite franchise? That’s totally understandable.”
Despite this, she went on: “But my favourite thing is an open mind, especially when it was closed before.
“I love when people aren’t stuck to their pretences, which I am totally guilty of all the time.”
Eilish later added: “I hear that something’s going to happen and I’m like, ‘That’s ridiculous. It should never be that way. It’s never going to be good.’
“And it’s important to keep your mind open and just listen and be like, ‘You know what, actually? I was wrong. This is really good.’”
Last year Eilish was praised for her work on the song by fellow Bond singer, Shirley Bassey.
In an interview, Bassey said of Billie: “It’s a big honour for a young artist to live up to the Bond expectation. She did a good job.”
