In an official statement following the cancellation, Netflix praised the show before adding: “The Daredevil character will live on in future projects for Marvel.”
Marvel echoed this statement, with their own praise for the blockbuster show, and added: “We look forward to more adventures with the Man without Fear in the future.”
With the character sure to come back in an upcoming film franchise, fans have now begun calling on Marvel to reclaim the rights to Matt Murdock, and begin production on a new film for the hero.
At the Avengers Endgame premiere a Disney exec reportedly explained that Marvel couldn’t start working on a new project with the Defenders until “two years” had passed from the cancellation – meaning November 29, 2020.
Fans have flocked to social media using the hashtag #SaveDaredevil in an attempt to shine a light on how popular the show was.
