According to Sony, there is a lot of demand for PS5 pre-orders right now, and the company say they are working hard to fill the current demand. With less than a month until the PS5 hits shelves, Sony is warning that not everyone will be getting one on launch day. That doesn’t mean work isn’t being done to help alleviate the issue, and fans are still hoping for one more wave of pre-orders in Europe and the United States.
The chance of that is good, but with so many people wanting a console, there is going to be a few disappointed gamers come November 12 and November 19.
The latest on the situation comes from Sony’s Jim Ryan who told Reuters this week: “It may well be that not everybody who wants to buy a PS5 on launch day will be able to find one, who added that the company is “working as hard as we ever can” to provide the supply needed.
“The demand as expressed by the level of pre-order has been has been very, very considerable,” Ryan added.
“We’re definitely looking upwards and thinking that we can do better than we thought we could,” Ryan said.
The PlayStation 5 will launch with its own unique features, including a new revamped PlayStation App for phones.
According to the latest announcement made by Sony, the new PlayStation App will allow gamers to remotely launch PS5 games.
Not only will you be able to do that with your shiny new console, but you’ll also have the option to manage storage on your console if you run out of space while downloading a game.
It will also be possible to sign in to your PS5 straight from the PS App, which could prove useful in the future.
A message from Sony explains: “We’re introducing new ways to amplify your connections with friends and the games you love to play even when you’re away from your console.
“We’re pleased to unveil the updated PlayStation App, reimagined to enhance your gaming experiences on both PS4 and PS5.
“Starting later today, the PS App will begin to roll out globally through updates on iOS (12.2 or later) and Android (6.0 or later) mobile devices.
“The PS App introduces fresh features such as voice chat, native PS Store integration, and a smoother experience delivered in an all-new design.”
At the moment we’re still waiting for news from Sony and major retailers around the world about when PS5 pre-orders will become available next.
But in the meantime one PlayStation insider has claimed that PS5 pre-orders will be available worldwide once again before the console’s release date.
This news comes courtesy of Roberto Serrano, a leaker who previously correctly revealed the date of the re-arranged PS5 unveiling event back in June. Serrano posted on Twitter that PS5 pre-orders will become “available before the end of October until early November”.
However, the tweeter warned that there will still be “very limited availability”. So even if the PS5 wave 3 stock drop is larger in size than the previous pre-order waves, it could still sell out at lightning-fast speeds.
This week Serrano tweeted: “#ICYMI PlayStation 5 pre-orders will be available before the end of October until early November. Very limited availability. Check your favourite retailer to secure your ticket for the next-gen in the sign of Sony @PlayStation”.
