Amazon Echo owners are now well used to asking for the latest weather reports, news updates and summoning Alexa to blast out their favourite music but there’s now something new to ask the chatty assistant. With the correct Alexa command, these popular smart speaker will now reveal a surprising fact via the all-new Guinness World Records Skill.
Once the Skill is enabled, all Echo owners have to do is ask, “Alexa, what is the record of the day?” to hear one of hundreds of remarkable feats from the global authority on record-breaking achievements. This includes the highest tightrope crossing by bicycle, achieved by Nik Wallenda from a height of 238 feet or Lisa Pitman who is the only female taekwondo master in the UK and holds the record for the most boards broken with one hand at 230.
“We’re thrilled that Alexa can now share information from the exciting world of Guinness World Records and tell customers fun facts each day. As shown by these world-record breakers, there are amazing feats for customers to discover,” said Dennis Stansbury, Alexa UK & Ireland Country Manager.

And Craig Glenday, Editor in Chief of Guinness World Records, added: “It’s really exciting to see the Guinness World Records skill come to life on Alexa. You never know, it may even inspire a few people to have a go at earning their own place in the Guinness World Records book one day!”
To celebrate the new Alexa Skill, a series of imagery has been captured of quirky Guinness World Records title holders recreating their skills at home, including butcher who can make the most sausages in a minute, a multiple record-breaking football freestyler, and a married martial arts pair that previously stunned the nation on Britain’s Got Talent.
