PS5 availability is on everyone’s mind right now after what has been one of the biggest and most in-demand console launches in recent years. Fans of Sony’s PlayStation have been dying to know when Britain’s major retailers will restock the PS5, with attention focused on GAME, Argos and Smyths. PS5 stock quickly dwindled after people got their pre-orders in and retail stocks were scooped up by scalpers.
Will GAME restock the PS5 this week?
If you head to GAME’s PlayStation 5 right now you will be disappointed to find both the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Digital Edition are out of stock.
Before stocks dwindled, Britain’s premiere gaming outlet offered a number of enticing console bundles, which included multiple games, accessories and even t-shirts.
Good news is, however, the DualSense Wireless controller is still in stock for £59.99.
You can also get your hands on the PlayStation 5 HD Camera for £49.99.
As of 10.30am on Friday, the PlayStation 5 Media Remote and 3D Pulse Wireless Headset are out of stock but might be available in store.
But before you head out, check your local coronavirus restrictions as your local store might be closed.
Unfortunately, both editions of the PS5 are currently unavailable but the retailer assured it’s “working hard to make this available as soon as possible”.
If you check in with Argos on Twitter, a chatbot will tell you all information regarding stock is online and “our helpers don’t have any other information on stock level.”
And if you have already ordered a PS5 from Argos but your order hasn’t arrived, chances are it was cancelled due to high demand.
Argos said: “To check, simply head over to argos.co.uk and login to your account.
“If your order isn’t displayed here then unfortunately we’ve had to cancel the order due to high demand but your money will be automatically refunded back to you within five working days.”
Will Smyths restock the PS5 this week?
Smyths is another retailer rumoured to soon receive new PS5 stock.
The PlayStation 5 disc and digital consoles are currently out of stock, both for home delivery and click and collect.
The retailer’s website, however, states more stock is expected in January 2021.
For the time being, you can pick up a number of PS5 games and accessories.
You can buy the PlayStation 5 Media Remote for £24.99 and the DualSense controller for £59.99.
The Pulse 3D headset, which retails for £89.99, and the DualSense charging station at £24.99 are currently out of stock.
Express.co.uk has contacted Smyths for more information.
Where can you buy the PS5 this week?
With most retailers out of stock, consoles are still being sold on eBay and the Facebook marketplace.
However, scalpers are pushing the consoles at eyewatering premiums with some eBay prices set above £1,000.
The PS5 is listed as available on the CEX website, however, at prices ranging from £795 to £815 – a move which has earned CEX some criticism.
Buyers have been urged not to buy from scalpers and potential scammers hoping to get their hands on your hard-earned money.
In December last year, a motion was filed in Westminster to tackle the practice of buying and reselling consoles and computer parts at higher-than-retail prices.
The motion read: “This House believes that new releases of gaming consoles and computer components should be available to all customers at no more than the Manufacturer’s Recommended Retail Price, and not be bought in bulk by the use of automated bots which often circumvent maximum purchase quantities imposed by the retailer.”
You should also pay attention to Amazon, Currys and ShopTo for more PS5 stock updates.
