This weekend has seen a popular PS4 game go live on the PlayStation Store at no extra charge.

By logging into your PlayStation 4 console today, you can check out if you can also download and play the Crypt of the NecroDancer

It’s unclear why the game is currently up as a free download, or how long it might last across the PlayStation platform.

But by checking the PSN Store on consoles or on a browser, the game can be seen as a free option.

Sony has a good track record of keeping the PlayStation Store up to date with free demos and trials.

But this latest option hasn’t been announced on any of the usual big social media platforms.

This could mean that it is a mistake and could be removed as a free option very quickly.

It also appears that the Crypt of the NecroDancer is only available as a free option for those PS4 owners with a Europe-based account.

For those who don’t know much about the NecroDancer, you can find out more from the official description listed below:

“Crypt of the NecroDancer is an award-winning hardcore roguelike rhythm game. Move to the music and deliver beatdowns to the beat! Groove to the epic Danny Baranowsky soundtrack, or select songs from your own MP3 collection!

“Move on the beat to navigate ever-changing dungeons while battling dancing skeletons, zombies, dragons, and more.

“Groove to the game’s award-winning Danny Baranowsky soundtrack, or select songs from your own MP3 collection.

Play with keyboard, controller, or even a USB dance pad, and includes 6 playable remixes of the entire soundtrack. Remixes by FamilyJules, A_Rival, Chipzel, OCRemix, Girlfriend Records, and Virt.”

Gamers can log on and find out for themselves if they can grab a copy of the popular game on PS4.

It should be noted that if this is a mistake, your copy could be removed from your account, and it will be worth keeping an eye out for the latest news on the subject.

Plenty of gamers online are reporting grabbing the game today, with one pointing out: “Not free in the US PSN store. I hella rushed checking the store only to find out it’s not free & it cost $2.99 The PSN store hasn’t given full free games in a long time.

“I recommend this game with all my heart! It’s extremely fun and catchy, and I play it fairly often, sometimes just to blow off some steam.”
