Elvis Presley’s home is kicking off its Christmas season with the Graceland Annual Lighting Ceremony. This is when the Memphis mansion is decked in seasonal decorations and its outdoor Christmas lights are turned on for the first time. And this year the event will be virtual-only due to the on-going pandemic.

Elvis fans can tune in to watch the broadcast live via Facebook at 6pm CST on Thursday, November 19.

For UK fans that’s midnight at the end of November 19 going into November 20.

Meanwhile, this year fans visiting Memphis can enjoy the special Christmas live mansion tour.

A statement by Graceland reads: “This year, guests visiting Graceland on December 1-20, can enjoy special Graceland Christmas tours daily from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

“Our Graceland Christmas tours will feature live tour guides throughout Graceland mansion sharing stories about what it was like to spend Christmas at Graceland with Elvis, and guests will be surrounded by the beauty of Elvis’ traditional holiday decorations, both inside and outside Graceland mansion.

“In addition, the Graceland mansion tour will feature special holiday displays direct from the Graceland Archives.”

Elvis’ Memphis mansion has been lit up in a variety of different colours this year.

No doubt, Elvis fans were pleased with the touching symbol, especially as The King was a patriot.

At the time Graceland wrote: “These are unprecedented times, but we’re all in this together.

“As a sign of solidarity, Graceland Mansion will be lit red, white and blue nightly at sunset until we reopen to the public.

“From our Graceland family to yours, we wish everyone around the world health and happiness. We look forward to welcoming you back at Graceland soon.”

Last month, Elvis’ only grandson was buried next to his grandfather at Graceland. The King is buried in the Meditation Garden right by the mansion, between his grandmother and father.

Graceland wrote on its official Facebook page: “Benjamin Storm Presley Keough was laid to rest in the Meditation Garden at Graceland with his family including his grandfather, Elvis Presley, great-grandmother, Gladys Presley, great-grandfather, Vernon Presley and great-great-grandmother, Minnie Mae Presley.”

Benjamin tragically died by suicide on July 12, 2020 at the age of 27-years-old. His mother is Lisa Marie Presley, Elvis’ only child, while his father is singer-songwriter Danny Keough.
